Many of these protests have turned violent, exposing the raw frustration and anger felt by residents. They are demanding to be seen and heard, not only in relation to vital services, but also in representation in the public life of our cities. If people are suitably and democratically represented in the public life of the city, they will strive to make positive contributions to the future developments of the city.”
