Zahira Asmal contributed an essay about the mixed identity of Cape Town and opportunities for democratic cultural representation in the central and public spaces of the city for the Tell Freedom exhibition catalogue. Curated by Manon Braat and Nkule Mabaso, the Tell Freedom exhibition at Kunsthal Kade in Amersfoort comprised new and existing work by fifteen young artists from South Africa. In it, they reflect critically on the past, present and future of South Africa in a global context.
